Kirk Bloomer, founder of this Build Newcrest challenge/legacy, starts his family’s story off with a bang–well, a fire. After the loss of a family friend, the Bloomers attempt to rebuild their life and their town. Things take a twist of fate of generation 2 heir, Isaac, learns about his father’s past and the true meaning behind the Ruby Perrin Memorial Park, (but that’s only chapter 7!). If that’s not enough, you’ll meet a criminal mastermind who will take your breath away.

First Impressions: I started reading this story while away on a mini-vacation, and I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. Needless to say, at this point, I am fully drawn in and the characters’ lives are important to me! I adore this story so much that I let updates build up so I can binge read them and get my Bloomer fix.
The Plumbob has a gifted way of interweaving a story line with her own thoughts so that it blends fluidly. It’s generally lighthearted, though not lacking drama, and easy to read. One of the many things I appreciate about this story is that The Plumbob is not afraid to explore nontraditional families and situations, making each generation surprisingly different from the one before it. Several of the characters from her story will make lasting impressions on you. It’s not one to miss!
